Maintenance Mechanic - 12 Hour PM Shift

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Manager, Engineering and Reliability

Due to internal advancement, Catalent is looking to recruit a Maintenance Mechanic to join a growing Machine Maintenance group at our site in Winchester, KY.

The Mechanic, in conjunction with the Sr. Mechanics and Chief Mechanics, is primarily responsible for maintaining all building, utility and production equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Catalent's Winchester location is the flagship US manufacturing location for large scale complex controlled release (CR) oral dose forms, with integrated analytical and development services. With 20 years of expertise in product development, technology transfers and commercial manufacturing, and roots in industry leading Glatt technology. This site offers newly installed Fluid Beds, expanded analytical labs, and an advanced open facility design that provides flexibility in supporting the requirements of any new customer program.

The Role

  • Maintain all building, utility and production equipment in an orderly and efficient manner

  • Perform necessary repairs to equipment and building as needed

  • Perform preventative maintenance scheduled services for all equipment and enter date onto equipment records

  • Monitor the boiler system including water chemical testing and additional chemical components and charging aged salt to the water softeners

  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and electronic control systems and PLC based systems utilizing equipment schematics and specialized testing equipment

  • Compound tasks including but not limited to sustained posture with overhead reach in concert with tool use

  • Properly positioning equipment for maintenance

  • Items including tools and lab equipment (1 to 15 lbs.), larger scale pieces of equipment involving multiple personnel for lift (>50 lbs)

  • Monitoring Boiler System and other production support systems

  • Chemical testing and handling of chemicals for addition to system

The Candidate

  • An associate’s degree or vocational certificate in related field is preferred. 1-2 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical, food, or chemical manufacturing environment in a maintenance mechanic position is also preferred. Prior experience with a preventative maintenance program for production, utility and building systems including keeping equipment records.

  • Familiar with use and operation of test equipment such as digital voltmeter, temperature probes, and pneumatic calibrators

  • Knowledgeable with servicing and operating building utility equipment such as boilers, air compressors chillers, etc

  • Must be able to use hand power tools and various electrical testing equipment, such as, ammeters, voltmeters, temperature probes, and pneumatic calibrators

  • Must be familiar with and possess the ability to read, understand and use electrical drawings, system drawings and panel layout sheets; as well as wiring diagrams
