Boiler Room Operator – Rotating Shift

Position Summary

The Boiler Operator reports to the Facilities Manager

The Boiler Room Operator is responsible for documented maintenance of boilers, chillers, HVAC, compressed gases and water systems. The ideal candidate will ensure a timely completion of preventative maintenance tasks (PMs) and immediate reporting of out of tolerance conditions of any device connected to the Building Automation System (BAS).

Catalent in Somerset, NJ is home to oral solid dose manufacturing operations as part of the Advanced Delivery Technology (ADT) business unit. On site we have our state-of-the-art laboratory, clinical, and commercial manufacturing plant for oral dose forms in addition to being the Catalent Center of Excellence for handling Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

The Role

  • Operate and maintain high pressure boilers and auxiliary boiler plant equipment, Centrifugal chillers, towers and related pumps.

  • Boiler water and water tower test and treatment.

  • Monitoring of the facilities utility plant, air handlers, exhaust fans, manufacturing suites, labs, and office wings for temperatures, humidity and pressurization, utilizing the Building Automation System. Respond to alarms and equipment failure, notification and documentation.

  • Clean water system operation. Softeners, Reverse Osmosis, Lab De-ionized, R.O.D.I. and Purified.

  • Ability to analyze problems / failures and respond to restore, repair and or report.

  • Maintain daily logs and equipment logs.

  • Will be required to perform maintenance on equipment: Preventive and reactive.

The Candidate

  • Must have his/her New Jersey State Blue Seal Boiler Operator’s License

  • Must be able to work 12 hour Rotating Shift including weekends

  • 7-10 years as a Boiler Operator

  • High School Diploma, Technical Trade School, Associate Degree (AS) in Technical field is a plus

  • Knowledge of the trades= Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing,VAC experience, including large tonnage chillers and air handling equipment.

  • Knowledge in BAS Systems and Control logic
