Catalent Pharma Solutions Manager, Microbiology in Morrisville, North Carolina

The Manager, Microbiology Plans and directs projects and supplies technical inspiration, leadership, and consultation to professional co-workers. Plans and directs scientific work on extremely complex projects necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches. May represent the site in outside discussions and technical forums. Comply with divisional and site Environmental Health and Safety requirements.

The laboratory groups at Catalent RTP are responsible for the support of pharmaceutical product development in a range of dosage forms both directly with customers and in collaboration with other Catalent facilities. This includes formulation development, structural chemistry, analytical support, and clinical trials material manufacturing

The role:

  • Financial and operational management responsibilities for one or morefunctional areas.

  • Plan and lead employee development to achieve performance goals.Achieve performance for key quality and compliance metrics.

  • Develop, support and implement continuous improvement initiatives and new technologies to strengthen Catalent’s competitive position in the industry.

  • Manage operational and strategic deliverables while upholding Catalent values. Collaborate with management peers to execute projects spanning the division, site or other Catalent sites.

  • Engage in organizational succession planning at the site.

  • Prepare for and contribute to budget planning for the site.

  • Implement initiatives to improve the engagement of those in the organization.

  • Develop and implement site objectives for one or more functional areas.

  • Keep abreast of technical and regulatory developments in the pharmaceutical field, which are directly/potentially applicable to site, products, services, and technologies.

  • Share or promote technical expertise through publications and/or presentations

The candidate:

  • Doctoral degree, master’s degree, or bachelors degree in chemistry or closely related physical or life science from a four-year college/university or equivalent education and training

  • 12 years experience in pharmaceutical research and development with 5 years in a managerial position

  • Effective leadership skills including supervision, conflict resolution, situational leadership, delegation and leading change

  • Broad knowledge of regulatory/compliance issues in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
