Master Scheduler

Position Summary

The Master Scheduler will work with the Site Leadership team and the extended functional leaders to take over the daily scheduling of production, including coordination and planning with various departments working closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics to support clear execution of the daily and weekly production schedules. This will include making necessary modifications to schedules as things change, understanding and communicating how schedule modifications affect our financial forecast. This position will also look to develop new tools and/or processes to improve the scheduling process. This will require a thorough understanding of each department and our production operations. These basic functions may change as deemed appropriate.

Shift: 1st shift M-F 8AM-5PM

Location: Manassas, VA

Catalent’s Manassas facility provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. The site has the capability to manufacture cold-processed soft chews for nutritional supplements and nutraceuticals, as well as small batch lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, ingredients, and colors available, we can work with complex formulations to help create engaging new products consumers will love.

The Role:

• Act as change agent in organization driving production to meet customer demand; Daily monitor for accurate data entry of production jobs.

• Facilitate and manage KPI’s and metrics; Distribute daily progress updates - Report WIP Status - Production Jobs, Bulk, Packaging and Bagging.

• Prepare and distribute weekly Production Schedule including Daily Job numbers, as applicable, to the functional group leaders; Distribute updates to Production Schedules as needed; Identify and communicate scheduling conflicts to the BU and Supply Chain Director to obtain resolutions; Communicates decisions to the individual teams affected by the schedule changes; Maintain schedule adherence and stability metrics, and liaise with related departments to identify root cause.

• Work closely with Production Supervisors to adequately support all planning activities in a timely manner; Track Production Actual to Plan; Enter and manage production using planning tools such as Excel, PowerPoint and the ERP System.

• Create and modify the Master Schedule and shift specific short-term production schedules; Participate in all pre-launch activities as they relate to scheduling requirements.

• Manage Capacity plans to assess mid to long term capacity constraints; Facilitate the monthly Capacity analysis and review; Establish performance analysis; Identify priorities when needed to fulfill inventory replenishment.

• Own the identification and management of financial risk and opportunities, ensuring schedule optimization and acceleration opportunities are realized to ensure forecasts are achieved; Provide ownership of monthly absorption forecast process.

• Attend S&OP meetings and communicate schedule dates to ensure alignment with demand needs; Maintain all master planning data pertaining to accurate MPS execution; Comply with all SOPs and cGMP guidelines at the site.

• Collaborate with Materials and Quality on scheduling of inbound raw materials needing testing to ensure schedule readiness

• Lead Ready to Execute process; Participate in training as required to successfully perform job responsibilities.

The Candidate:

• A BA or BS degree in related field preferred; High school diploma required.

• 3+ years of experience in a GMP environment in one of the fields of Planning/Scheduling required; Food manufacturing environment preferred.

• Demonstrated leadership in one or more of the areas of Planning or Scheduling.

• Experience working with an ERP system preferred; Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Programs specifically Excel required

• APICS Certification a plus.

• Ability to work with cross functional departments within the organization

• Strong problem solving, verbal and communication skills; excellent analytical and decision-making abilities; good presentation skills; detail oriented with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
