The Proposal Lead I works closely with Business Development (Sales), Program Management, and Operations to generate proposals, change orders, and statements of work (SOWs) that meet the needs of the client in terms of scope and deliverables while ensuring the request is a good fit for the facility from a scope and capacity perspective. The Proposal Lead team is responsible for execution of the proposal process to ensure that all proposals are delivered on time in an efficient, accurate, and detail-oriented manner.

The main responsibility of a Proposal Lead I is to develop the scope, pricing, and timeline of proposals for both new and ongoing drug substance programs and ensure scopes are adequately reviewed before being delivered to the client. This position will work with management and key stakeholders at the Madison and Bloomington sites to support the management of the broader business processes and maximize profits. In addition, the Proposal Lead team plays a key role in the continuous improvement of our cost productivity processes and in standardizing the proposal process and supporting tools/information. The Proposal Lead I is expected to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate technical and commercial input into proposals, applying one’s own technical knowledge and input from key stakeholders and the client. More specifically, the following responsibilities are expected from the Proposal Lead I role:

This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

The Role

• Lead the proposal process and liaise with Program Management, Business Development, Commercial Operations, clients, and key site stakeholders on the timely generation of and pricing for proposals, change orders, and SOWs.

• Participate in New Product Evaluation (NPE) and deal review meetings and support the site selection process.

• Hold and/or participate in technical review meetings with prospective clients and current partners to collect relevant information required to draft comprehensive proposals and review drafted proposals throughout the lifecycle of an opportunity.

• Lead internal technical review meetings to ensure alignment with site capabilities and capacity and transition proposals into executable SOWs.

• Support client site visits by assisting Business Development, Project Management, and Commercial Operations in the planning and execution of the site visit.

• Assist with maintaining proposal templates and the drug substance price sheet, as appropriate.

• Collaborate with other Catalent business units to obtain related scopes and associated pricing and ensure strong connectivity between the various Biologics sites.

• Assist and/or lead strategic continuous improvement projects at the site to develop more robust business processes and streamline current practices.

• Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in STEM OR Equivalent work experience in a related industry.

• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

• Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful, and organized; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to multi-task at a high level and the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines and needs. Ability to prioritize, including the ability to deliver client-ready materials under strict deadlines.

• Superior time management, organizational skills and accuracy; Detail-oriented and careful about quality of work.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor, with ability to interact with a diverse range of people at all levels of the organization.

• Highly independent, self-starter with an ability to take input from all levels of the BD and Operations teams to create clear and effective proposals.
