Position Summary

Analytics Scientist I

The Analytics Scientist I will develop and execute laboratory work plans/schedules independently, using customer milestones and Division/site performance standards and metrics. Sample types include in-process, release or stability. Techniques include HPLC, UV/Vis, Disintegration and Dissolution. Apparatus types are 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. The position will perform method development, validation, and transfer activities and will work with some supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. The Analytics Scientist I will be assisted by laboratory technicians/assistants or associate level scientists. He/she may direct projects and employees, taking on a technical lead role, and will comply with divisional and site Environmental Health and Safety requirements.

Shift: 1st shift M-F 8AM-5PM

Location: 100% on site at Kansas City, MO facility

The site provides a range of integrated services for oral solid dosage forms, from formulation development and analytical testing to clinical and commercial-scale manufacture. The Kansas City facility is a Center-of-Excellence for our Biologics Analytical Services business. Our talented team has over 25 years of experience providing analytical services for stand-alone and integrated biologics projects.

The Role:

  • Authors technical documents, such as protocols, test methods, text reports, certificates of analysis, and operating procedures; Has appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

  • Reviews technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance

  • Directs work of technical staff, including work assignments; Responsible as Technical Lead with responsibility for project outcome and customer interaction

  • Executes efficiency improvement project with guidance; Identify and recommend business opportunities on a project specific basis

  • Trains others on laboratory techniques

  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in related life science or physical science is required as a minimum education requirement. Doctorate Degree in related life science or physical science field required with related work experience preferred. Master's degree in related life science or physical science field required with 4+ years related work experience preferred; Bachelor's degree in related life science or physical science field required with 6+ years related work experience preferred.

• HPLC experience required, dissolution experience preferred

• Experience in GMP preferred

• Method development experience preferred

• Proactively address work issues at both an individual and a team level

• Ability to process, maintain, and interpret data; Understanding of instrument operations and troubleshooting skills in multiple techniques

• Written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers; Well organized and ability to multitask as well as efficient time management

• Technical writing experience preferred

Work environment: The employee must regularly lift, push and/or pull up to 40 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required the kneel with constant standing and reaching, with frequent walking and sitting.
